XBRL US Pacific Rim Technology Workshop to Feature Case Studies and Advanced Topics in XML Development, Santa Clara, CA, 7/28-30, 2009

WASHINGTON, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- XBRL US, the nonprofit consortium for XML business reporting, announced that detailed case studies and advanced topics in XML and XBRL development would be presented at its upcoming Pacific Rim Technology Workshop to be held at Hitachi Data Systems Headquarters in Santa Clara, California on July 28-30, 2009.

"Product managers and XML developers stand to gain significantly from this workshop where they'll have an opportunity to learn, share ideas and come up with solutions to issues like rendering, versioning and maintenance. • Practical, hands-on taxonomy maintenance workshop - an overview of the change management process in place today through real-world case studies in Japan and the US; participants will be able to test out change management approaches during the session
• Versioning discussion panel - business requirements and proposed solutions
• Tagging approaches - examples of three different methods and discussion of the pros and cons for each
• Rendering challenges - a dialogue about issues and possible solutions
• Data quality and validation - discussion on problems in XBRL creation, how it impacts the user and ways to solve it
• Database and business intelligence - discussion of the challenges in storing, querying and retrieving XBRL data to maximize comparability of information
