AMBER Ready Participates in National PTA Convention Activities; Co-Sponsors PTA Family Expo and Addresses Parents About Child Safety

ROCKAWAY, N.J., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- AMBER Ready co-sponsored and addressed parents and children at the PTA Family Expo at Lockhart Stadium on Saturday, June 27, 2009. The PTA Family Expo was part of the National PTA Convention, which takes place at the Greater Broward County Convention Center through today. While in Broward County, AMBER Ready also met with local law enforcement and donated an in-car printer unit to the Hollywood Police Department.

AMBER Ready's Sr. Vice President, Frank Del Vecchio addressed parents and children at the PTA Family Expo about the importance of taking action now to protect their families and provide safeguards for their children especially in the Internet age. AMBER Ready also provided families with child safety information and the opportunity to enroll in the AMBER Ready Program at their sponsored booth.

AMBER Ready is a child safety program that will allow parents and caregivers to store and lock their children's vital information and photograph in their wireless phone. In the event a child should ever go missing, law enforcement can utilize the AMBER Ready Program through their parent's wireless phone to transmit the child's information and photo to other agencies and local patrol vehicles and issue a missing child alert. The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives endorse the AMBER Ready Program.

While in Broward County, AMBER Ready also donated an in-car printer unit to the Hollywood Police Department to help reduce the time it takes to begin the search for a missing child. The printer unit will be installed in a patrol car and will allow law enforcement officials to quickly print posters of a missing child or wanted fugitives. Used with the new AMBER Ready Program, law enforcement will have the tools to reduce the time needed to put a missing child on alert.

On average, 800,000 children are reported missing each year. However, it is estimated that as many as 1.3 million children actually go missing each year. When a violent crime is tied to an abduction, 99% of violent crimes occur within the first four hours that the child is missing. This is a serious problem and the AMBER Ready Program drastically reduces the time needed to activate an AMBER Alert, greatly increasing the chances of a successful recovery of the child.
