Financial Firms Using Communicator Inc's Hub Connex Group Chat to Share Market Information

Posted on: Tuesday, 12 July 2005, 09:00 CDT

While many financial firms are experienced in the benefits of one-to-one instant messaging, leading-edge firms also have discovered the benefits of real-time group chat, or Forums.

Hub Connex launched its enterprise group discussion Forums in 2001 and now hosts over 5,000 group Forums, with the world's largest broker-dealers and hundreds of investment management firms and hedge funds. Dealers are staying close to scores of customers using inter-company forums, as well as leveraging Hub Connex' built-in secure IM, information broadcasting, desktop alerts and structured data delivery services.

The Hammerstone Group, an investment partnership and trading application provider, uses Hub Connex to connect over 100 professionals across 50 investment firms in a single forum. "Hub Connex has allowed our services to grow exponentially," says Mr. Jamie Lissette, Managing Director of Hammerstone. "Forums are an effective channel for our staff and clients to collaborate on topics including investment strategy and market color -- all within a easy-to-use application." A Forbes.com article and case study can be viewed at http://www.thehammerstone.com/hs_hif.html.

The hosted service makes Forums practical for as few as three and as many as thousands of users by eliminating server software deployment and user administration while providing enterprise-class reliability and security.

As online group discussions grow, financial firms need to ensure they are handled properly for communications compliance. Hub Connex' Forums support demanding message archiving and auditing requirements, including SEC rule 17a-4, NASD rule 3010 and the Investment Advisor Act. Forums transcripts can be viewed online, delivered to a customer in multiple file formats, integrated into nine leading compliance applications, or actively audited through a powerful surveillance solution.

"Our customers have long told us that group Forums are critical to their investment decision-making processes and customer relationships," says Leo Schlinkert, CEO of Communicator Inc. "Forums interaction has doubled over the last year to several hundred thousand messages sent a month. Nearly half of the forums involve multiple companies. This strong usage confirms the industry's demand for a compliant group collaboration tool that doesn't require a heavy technology and labor investment by customers."
