New iPhone Faces Overheating Issues
Technology sites and Apple forums have been overrun with questions and comments about how the new iPhone overheats since its June 19 debut.
Several iPhone users have grumbled that the phone gets too hot to hold up to their ear while others have noted that the white 32GB model fadeÂ
to pink when overheated.
In a notice posted on Apple’s support site, the company says that users should not leave their phones in places where the temperaturesÂ
can rise higher than the 113 degrees fahrenheit.
Apple states in the article that: "if the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience theÂ
following as it attempts to regulate its temperature: the device stops charging, display dims, and/or weak cellular signal.”
In the message, Apple noted that the iPhone has a safety feature that pops up on the display when the device has become too hot. The phoneÂ
can overheat after being in direct sunlight for a long time, when GPSÂ tracking is used on a hot day or when the iPod option is used inÂ
direct sunlight for an extended period of time.
If the warning shows on the display, Apple says to turn the iPhone off and let it to cool before using it again.
iPhone 3GS users are still grouchy over the issue of the handset. The handset frequently becomes hot even though it is not being used.
In a posting on macrumors.com, one user said that the device’s new video recording ability had caused the phone to overheat. Another userÂ
noted that after putting his phone in his backpack, it overheated so much that the plastic case became warped.
