Updated XpressO Oscillator Brochure from Fox Features Compact, Low Voltage Options

Posted on: Monday, 6 July 2009, 10:05 CDT

FORT MYERS, Fla., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Fox Electronics, a leading global supplier of frequency control solutions, has published an updated brochure for its cost-effective, low jitter XpressO crystal oscillators, which are now available in smaller package sizes and lower voltage options. The XpressO line provides significantly reduced costs and lead times as well as jitter characteristics comparable to those found in fixed frequency oscillators.

The brochure's selection guide has been expanded to include the updated XpressO line, which includes HCMOS, LVDS and LVPECL versions for both the XO (crystal oscillator) and VCXO (voltage-controlled crystal oscillator) product families. Each oscillator is now available in a lower 2.5 V voltage that requires 50% less current for significantly reduced heat generation versus 3.3 V versions.

The brochure includes information on the XpressO HMCOS XO oscillators that now come in a compact 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm package size. The rest of the comprehensive XpressO line is available in standard 5.0 mm x 3.2 mm and 7.0 mm x 5.0 mm sizes.

The additional uses of XpressO oscillators afforded by the new package size and lower voltage options are detailed in the brochure. For example, because it delivers low jitter in a compact, cost-effective package, the new 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm HCMOS XpressO oscillator is ideal for use in applications such as microprocessors, DSP, FPGA, SONET and Ethernet environments as well as in industrial controllers, test and measurement equipment and storage area networks.

The brochure outlines the use of application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) in the expanded line. By providing designers with the ability to select output type, input voltages and temperature performance features, ASICs allow for accelerated performance, decreased costs and increased flexibility in XpressO oscillators.

In addition, the updated brochure provides information on the line's performance options including exact frequencies ranging from 0.75 MHz to 1.35 GHz and stabilities as tight as +/-20 ppm.
