Verizon Wireless CTO to Address Plans for LTE (Long Term Evolution) at Nashville Event

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — PCIA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association announced today that Anthony Melone, Verizon Wireless SVP and CTO, will give the Opening Keynote at the 2009 Wireless Infrastructure Show at 9:00am on September 22, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN.

Anthony Melone is senior vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. wireless company in terms of customers and revenue. Melone was named to this position in 2007, and is responsible for planning, engineering, and operation of the company’s coast-to-coast network, the nation’s largest and most reliable wireless voice and 3G broadband network. He also is leading the build out of Verizon Wireless’ 4G network, which represents the nation’s first implementation of LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology.

Prior to his appointment as CTO, Melone served as vice president of network operations with responsibility for Verizon Wireless’ nationwide network operations, including overall quality assurance, implementation of new products and services, and regulatory compliance. During his tenure, the company launched the nation’s first wireless broadband wide-area network and implemented key innovative services including mobile broadband, V CAST Music over-the-air music download service, IP-based Push-to-Talk, and VZ Navigator for turn-by-turn navigation on cell phones.
