Neverfail(R) and VisionAIR(R) Give Lifeline to 911 Dispatch Centers and Public Safety Officials Across the Country

AUSTIN, Texas, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- A joint solution from Neverfail(R) and VisionAIR(R) ensures that 911 dispatch centers continuously stay up and running and that operators and public safety officials have access to the vital information they need to respond to emergencies and other life-threatening events. Customers including Pender County of North Carolina, the University of California at Davis Police Department and many others throughout the U.S. are using the joint Neverfail-VisionAIR Public Safety Suite(R) solution to ensure high availability of critical public safety systems servicing hundreds of thousands of residents.

In 2008, the Pender County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina purchased a range of VisionAIR solutions, including VisionCAD, VisionRMS and VisionMOBILE. These VisionAIR products allow Pender County 911 dispatchers to receive and distribute emergency calls to the correct resources in an emergency. They also enable officers in the field to run real-time queries through the national crime information center and record management system. Pender County implemented the combined VisionAIR suite with Neverfail for Microsoft(R) SQL Server to protect the system from unexpected downtime.

On March 5, 2009, a plane crashed in Burgaw, N.C. This resulted in a flood of emergency calls being routed through the Pender County Sheriff's Office, which had been tasked to respond to the emergency. At the same time, there was an electrical power spike that caused Pender County's SQL Server to crash, potentially making it impossible to access the VisionAIR applications and for the 911 dispatch center to receive incoming calls. However, with Neverfail in place, the system was able to automatically failover to secondary servers located at Pender County's disaster recovery site. The call dispatchers maintained seamless connectivity to the vital VisionAIR applications without any interruption or manual intervention.
