Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects Launches New Blog With Industry Thought Leaders

SAN FRANCISCO, July 22 /PRNewswire/ — The Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects (AOGEA) today announced the launch of a new blog on its website: AOGEA.org. In keeping with AOGEA’s mission, the newly revamped blog will focus on timely topics and trends related to advancing professional excellence within the enterprise architecture community. For example, blog content will examine the intersection of enterprise architecture and cloud computing, training and certification, SOA, and the role of popular architecture frameworks such as TOGAF(TM) in improving IT/business alignment.

This new endeavor brings together industry veterans Mike Walker, principal architect and managing director of enterprise architecture at Microsoft, Andy Ruth, distinguished author and IT architecture consultant, Ben Ponne, president of the Global Enterprise Architecture Organization (GEAO), Serge Thorne, chief information officer at Architecting the Enterprise, and Len Fehskens, vice president of Skills and Capabilities for The Open Group, all of whom will provide ongoing insight and commentary on industry hot topics.

About the Bloggers

Mike Walker is responsible for driving Microsoft’s worldwide strategy for Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise 2.0. Prior to joining Microsoft, Walker worked as an enterprise architect in banking, where he developed business strategies, conducted strategic infrastructure planning, and implemented technology projects. His experience includes long term enterprise planning, framework creation, enterprise process management, applications portfolio management and systems selection.

Former Microsoft Certified Architect program manager, Andy Ruth, is author of several books, including “Concise Guide to Windows 2000 DNS” and “SQL Server 7 Administration.” Ruth has over 25 years experience in the IT field, which includes growing from a mainframe support environment through mid-size and PC networks, working in services organizations, and training others on general systems and networking topics focused on Microsoft technologies.

Ben Ponne, president of the Global Enterprise Architect Organization, has over 20 years of international experience, primarily addressing business strategy, business transformation, and enterprise architecture. He recently graduated from a top tier dual-degree executive MBA from two prestigious global business schools. During his executive MBA he maintained his position as president of GEAO and successfully led the merger with The Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects in February 2009. Ponne is an accomplished speaker in the business community, regionally and globally and also provides business workshops in non-IT disciplines, such as corporate finance, financial accounting, leadership, and organizational design.

Serge Thorn has worked in the IT Industry for over 25 years in a variety of roles, including development and systems design, business analysis, IT operations and strategy, research and innovation, and architecture and service management. He has more than 20 years of experience in banking and finance and 5 years of experience in the pharmaceuticals industry. Thorne is currently developing and delivering new TOGAF 9 Enterprise Architecture consultancy and training services, implementing governance, and managing IT operations.

Len Fehskens is a frequent columnist, and is responsible for all activities relating to enterprise architecture at The Open Group, including AOGEA, TOGAF and the Architecture Forum. Prior to joining The Open Group, Fehskens led the Worldwide Architecture Profession Office for HP Services at Hewlett-Packard. He majored in Computer Science at MIT, and has almost 40 years of experience in the IT business as both an individual contributor and a manager, within both product engineering and services business units.
