-- California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) funded wireless network to span five counties in California --

MARKHAM, ON, July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Redline Communications Inc., (TSX:RDL) a leading provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products, today announced it was chosen by Rapid Link Incorporated, (OTCBB: RPID) a leading provider of WiMAX and communication services, for its $7 million WiMAX network in California. The Rapid Link network, which will be funded in part by a $2.8 million grant from the California Advanced Services Fund (CASF), will deliver high-speed wireless communications services throughout five counties in California.

As part of the CASF-funded project, Redline will provide its 3.65 GHz RedMAX base stations and customer premise equipment, to Rapid Link to deploy a high-capacity WiMAX network that will bring broadband services to businesses and residents throughout Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties in California. The installation and deployment of the network will take place over the next 18 months.

"A vast proportion of businesses in the United States lack a reliable and affordable option for broadband connectivity," said Matt Liotta, Chief Technology Officer, Rapid Link Inc. "The funding provided through the CASF and other government programs have the potential to bridge this divide, and when used to fund the deployment of advanced wireless broadband systems, we can accelerate the delivery of crucial communications services in more areas than ever before. Having worked with Redline and its products to establish WiMAX networks in many regions across the United States, we are confident we have a reliable solution that will benefit these deserving communities."

Rapid Link's WiMAX network will deliver broadband services to large, medium and small business, enabling these companies to improve their communications and compete effectively in the global marketplace. The high capacity and ease of management of the RedMAX equipment will enable Rapid Link partner Mother Lode, a California-based Internet Service Provider, to leverage the WiMAX network to manage and support the delivery of residential services using the same network. The residential subscribers will connect to the Rapid Link's WiMAX network via RedMAX subscriber units that will be installed at the customer premise by Mother Lode.

"Rapid Link was among the first service providers in the United States to follow through on its vision of bringing wireless broadband services to both established and underserved areas," said Majed Sifri, President and Chief Executive Officer, Redline Communications Inc. "We applaud the federal and state governments that are introducing new programs to fund much-needed broadband communications networks, as well as the regulators that are opening new frequency bands such as the 3.65 GHz spectrum, and are pleased to be part of this important project."

Each of Redline's products, including its RedMAX family of WiMAX solutions and RedCONNEX and RedACCESS broadband wireless infrastructure products, have achieved United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) acceptance and 'Buy American' status. The company's RedMAX products were also the first WiMAX products to receive FCC approval for deployment in the 3.65 GHz band.

Government Funding for Broadband Networks

The CASF is one of many State programs designed to support the delivery of broadband services to unserved and underserved areas. The Broadband Stimulus programs that are now being delivered under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) include the USDA's RUS Program and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP). Rapid Link and Redline have collaborated to establish a program to assist service providers to develop a network strategy that conforms to the requirements for funding under these programs, and to apply for financial assistance.

Redline's RedMAX(TM) Family

Redline's RedMAX(TM) family of WiMAX solutions includes the world's first complete system to receive the WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) mark for conformance to the WiMAX standards for performance and interoperability. Redline's carrier-class RedMAX(TM) Base Stations (AN-100U and AN-100UX) support voice, video, and prioritized data traffic, enabling long-range, high-capacity wireless broadband networks. Redline's WiMAX products also include the RedMAX(TM) Indoor Subscriber Unit (SU-I) and Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O) designed for enterprise and residential services.
