Networks In Motion Expands Gokivo Support for BlackBerry Smartphones to International Markets
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., July 28 /PRNewswire/ — Networks In Motion (NIM), the creator of Gokivo and the award-winning global wireless navigation, hyper-local search and location-based services (LBS) company, today announced it is expanding Gokivo support for BlackBerry(R) smartphones to international markets with support for the UK, Western Europe and Canada.*
The company said owners of the BlackBerry(R) Bold(TM), and BlackBerry(R) Curve(TM) 8900 smartphones, can now download Gokivo directly to their handsets from BlackBerry App World(TM). Networks In Motion is offering a “Summer Nav Sale” through the end of July that will allow BlackBerry smartphone users to try the application for free for 30 days, which ends Labor Day weekend.*
“As mobile devices proliferate and grow more powerful, the handset is becoming the platform that will drive almost all the future growth in turn-by-turn navigation and we’re going to be leading that transition and increasing the smartphone footprint for Gokivo,” said Doug Antone, CEO of Networks In Motion. “Consumers want navigation in the palm of their hands at all times and they want real-time data that can help them discover everything that’s around them by simply clicking on their phone.”
BlackBerry smartphones now supported by Gokivo and available on BlackBerry App World include the BlackBerry(R) Bold(TM) and BlackBerry(R) Curve(TM) 8900 smartphones.
In a report issued this week, global research and advisory company Gartner said PND prices are declining rapidly as consumers seek other alternatives. The research firm said entry-level standalone navigation devices were now selling at only a fraction of what they cost five years ago. A souring domestic and global economy is also leading consumers to rethink purchasing new hardware devices.
