GFI Software Buys Remote Monitoring and Management Company HoundDog Technology(TM)

July 28, 2009

RALEIGH, N.C., July 28 /PRNewswire/ – GFI Software announced today that it has bought HoundDog Technology Ltd, a successful best-of-breed remote monitoring and management company.

The HoundDog technology provides Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Value Added Resellers (VARs) and IT support organizations with an easier, more affordable way to monitor and manage their client networks. This perfectly complements GFI’s plans to provide the channel with the best applications and solutions available to help SMBs manage and grow their businesses.

“This is the first of a number of initiatives we are undertaking to provide customers with a range of services that include both on-premise and on-line solutions,” said Walter Scott, GFI’s CEO. “We chose HoundDog for the simple reason that they are a best-of-breed company in the Cloud, with a great tool for MSPs, VARs and IT support organizations to provide a cost effective, convenient service to their customers. We bought it because it is the best monitoring solution, it has the best reporting and provides the best value for our channel.”

HoundDog Technology delivers an award-winning suite of remote management, monitoring and support tools to more than 1,700 IT Support Organizations and MSPs worldwide and has experienced strong business growth in recent months. MSPs use HoundDog’s real-time systems monitoring, automated daily health checks, asset tracking, patch management, own-brand client reporting and remote support solutions to build recurring revenues, drive down operating costs and deliver best-of-breed IT support services.

“HoundDog has been a great experience for us over the past four years. We have seen fantastic take up by the channel and our growth has been exceptional,” said HoundDog’s founder Doug Wilson. “When GFI came knocking on our door, we knew this was a great opportunity to partner with an established technology leader, round out our product offering and launch it to a worldwide audience. We believe that GFI is the perfect vehicle to push our remote monitoring and management technology to as many MSPs as possible and look forward to being part of the GFI family.”

“HoundDog is an extremely successful company on a fantastic growth curve. We are confident that this will be the catalyst for GFI to further expand its product portfolio providing clients on-premise or Web-based delivery models. We are looking at bringing in other companies and their technology in the coming months to enable us to continue providing the best possible solutions to our customers based on their infrastructure and needs at the time,” added Scott.
