Spirent Communications Selected to Evaluate H3C's 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet Data Center Core Switch Platform

Spirent TestCenter(TM) Used for Performance Evaluation of H3C S12500 Series Data Center Switches

SUNNYVALE, Calif. Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Spirent Communications plc. (LSE: SPT), the leading provider of network, device and services testing solutions, today announced that H3C selected its award-winning Spirent TestCenter(TM) platform to evaluate the performance of the H3C S12500 family of data center switches. Spirent TestCenter(TM) was selected specifically to test forwarding performance of the high-port-density S12500 platform. The S12500 is the first data center class core switch based on a 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) platform and supports 40 GigE, 100 GigE and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) links, meeting the ever-increasing performance requirements of modern data centers.

Spirent, recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the global leader in enterprise network testing as well as the global leader in Ethernet testing, provides the industry's highest test port density with 4.8 terabits of traffic generation and analysis per rack. Tests performed by H3C included evaluating the forwarding performance of Layer 2, Layer 3 (IPv4 and IPv6), multicast and MPLS traffic on 128 10G ports, as well as cache testing with bursty traffic. The results demonstrate that the S12500 platform is capable of supporting line-rate 100 GigE traffic with zero packet loss, through superior forwarding performance, powerful caching capabilities and extremely high reliability and stability.
