Ventura, Calif. Police Department Goes Live with Motorola PremierOne(TM) for Public Safety Applications Solution

Posted on: Monday, 17 August 2009, 07:00 CDT

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- APCO 2009 (Booth 824) -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the first production use of the next generation of PremierOne(TM) Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and PremierOne Mobile application solutions by the City of Ventura, Calif. for their public safety applications for increased real-time collaboration. Ventura Police Department replaced its stand-alone public safety applications and now has the ability to access and share real-time, critical information both in the field and at the command center to protect and serve the citizens in Ventura. The department has upgraded to this integrated system for improvements in several areas including enhanced situational awareness and safety, efficient resource allocation, dispatch flexibility and accurate data application and trend analyses.

"It is critical that our officers get the information that they need the most from dispatchers to improve upon the safety and quality of life for our residents," said, Lt. David Wilson, Ventura Police Department. "Motorola's PremierOne CAD brings increased accuracy to our operations."

PremierOne was developed from a unique alliance between Motorola and Microsoft(R) and designed on Microsoft.NET technology. The common platform also utilizes Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), standardizing the way information is shared, accessed and delivered to public safety personnel regardless of jurisdictional boundaries or agencies.

"Motorola, a key Microsoft Citizen Safety Architecture partner, sets a new standard for operational effectiveness. We believe PremierOne, built on the Microsoft platform used by so many public safety customers around the world, significantly advances the way responders access and communicate the critical information needed to saves lives," said Tim Bloechl, Managing Director, Worldwide Public Safety and National Security, Microsoft.

The enhanced level of information offered by the new PremierOne platform increases the presence of officers in the field. Officers no longer need to return to their station for information, rather they can access a wide range of information from their vehicle and stay focused on protecting their community.

"PremierOne delivers a new level of application intelligence for enhanced safety and service offering a real-time view of the city of Ventura to the police department," said Darren McQueen, Motorola vice president and general manager, Applications and Broadband Solutions. "Additionally, in these times of tight budget constraints, public safety departments now have an upgrade path for their CAD and Mobile needs that includes the benefit of consolidating their solution platforms."

"PremierOne is as important to an officer as his or her sidearm. I would not send an officer to a call without a gun or the capabilities and critical information this system provides. The system clearly will help save lives," Lt. Wilson predicted.
