Technology Equipment on the Way to Provost Academy South Carolina Students

Posted on: Monday, 17 August 2009, 09:50 CDT

COLUMBIA, S.C., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Students of Provost Academy South Carolina will soon be receiving the technology equipment to begin their online education on August 31. Enrolled students will be provided a laptop computer, printer/scanner and Internet stipend to connect them to the online high school offered by Provost.

Provost Academy is South Carolina's newest state-authorized public online school that is free of charge to state residents, and offers high school students the public school choice of an engaging, adaptable and quality online learning experience.

At Provost Academy, students work toward their regular public high school diploma, recognized by colleges and employers, as they would in a traditional school, but in the convenient, safe environment of their own home through computer-based educational programs.

According to Dr. Darrell Johnson, Executive Director of Provost Academy, "Each of one of our students is provided a computer, a printer/scanner and an Internet stipend so that they can stay connected and in touch with teachers and counselors who are fully dedicated to their success."

Students of Provost Academy, who have completed the registration process and have provided the necessary documents - such as birth certificates and transcripts, will be receiving their computers within the next two weeks. Students who are still completing the enrollment process will receive their computers shortly after their registration has been finalized.

"Unlike many other online schools, Provost Academy is providing the technology our students will need to take full advantage of the online educational experience we offer," Dr. Johnson said. "For us, the computer is like a book a student checks out of the school library - it will cost them nothing to use it - and have to be returned at the end of the school year."

Provost Academy is currently enrolling students for the upcoming school year. Parents and students seeking more information about PASC, how to enroll, or when Community Outreach Directors will be in their area should visit the Web site: www.sc.provostacademy.com, or call: 877-919-PASC (7272) toll free.

Provost Academy South Carolina is an Online Public High School serving grades 9 to 12. PASC is uniquely designed to offer a challenging and flexible education option for students who want or need something different from traditional high schools. PASC is the only Online High School in South Carolina backed by EdisonLearning, the nation's largest partner to public school districts and communities, with nearly 20 years of proven experience driving academic results in the K-12 classroom.
