Italian publishing house Arnoldo Mondadori Editore SpA has announced the purchase of 62 radio transmitter sites, and corresponding broadcast frequencies, from a number of companies, for 20.4m euro [25m dollars], the Mondadori website reported on 7 July.
The newly acquired transmitters will be used by Mondadori's radio arm, Mondaradio, to expand the broadcast coverage of its R101 radio station in Romagna, Marche, Tuscany, Lombardy and Lazio. After the expansion, the coverage of the radio station will exceed 75 per cent of the country.
The deal is awaiting clearance from Italy's antitrust and other regulatory authorities.
