Leading Taiwanese PC maker joins hands with Lenovo for international server market

BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan-based Elitegroup Computer System (ECS), one of the world's leading PC mainboard producers, announced here Wednesday that it started its technological cooperation with the mainland IT giant Lenovo Group to march toward the international server market.

According to their agreement, Lenovo will establish a special developing team for ECS, helping it to build a specialized product line of servers and providing comprehensive support for the production of the printed circuit boards (PCB).

At the same time, Lenovo will launch technician training programs for ECS to enhance its after-service qualities.

Liang Jun, general manager of Lenovo's China Server Department, said "Lenovo is one of the world's most powerful mainboard designers and server manufacturers. From the basic circuit design to the PC system integration, Lenovo has independent property rights and good development and research capabilities."

"We can provide world class server technologies and products," Liang said.

The monthly mainboard production of ECS has reached 2 million this year, ranking second in the world.

Liang said ECS's great production capability, in addition to its sale channels and service networks, which pervade every corner of the world, makes its cooperation with Lenovo "a union between strong powers in a real sense."

Li Daming, general manager of ECS's China Region, said the cooperation will considerably expand its server market in Asia and South America and that it will also introduce an additional choice in the European and US markets.
