NEW YORK, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Today MediaMall Technologies announced the availability of the heavily-requested and long-awaited version of their PlayOn software for Nintendo's Wii gaming console. The Wii version will be in addition to the highly successful releases for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3. "We are very excited for this release as it means we now have a solution for owners of any of the three major gaming consoles on the market today. This represents over 40% of U.S. households," relays Jeff Lawrence, MediaMall CEO.
PlayOn allows its owners to watch streaming Internet content from sources like Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, YouTube, CBS, Amazon Video on Demand, and more. Third party developers are also permitted to create plugins to allow additional content to be streamed. Some of the content enabled by third party developers includes: Adultswim, Food Network, Cartoon Network, NFL Network, and South Park Studios. Nintendo's Wii represents the fastest selling gaming console ever with over 24 Million units sold in the U.S. in less than three years. A public beta of the Wii software is available at the company's website www.playon.tv.
"Most game console owners already have their consoles attached to their media center. We see PlayOn as an obvious and easy way to enable them to have a richer viewing experience by moving content off of their computer screen and into their living rooms without the need for any additional hardware or cables," continues Mr. Lawrence. The market agrees, over 500 copies of PlayOn are downloaded from the company's website every day.
MediaMall Technologies, founded in 2003, is the developer of PlayOn software. Today MediaMall operates with offices in New York, Seattle, and Copenhagen. PlayOn software enables its users to stream Internet content from their PC to their media center by way of their gaming console or most DLNA compliant devices.
