Ivara methodology and technology contribute to achieving compliance

BURLINGTON, ON, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ - Ivara Corporation, the industry leader and innovator in asset performance management solutions, today announced that ScottishPower Energy Wholesale Ltd, a subsidiary of Iberdrola Group, implemented Ivara(R) EXP Enterprise software and the Ivara Work Smart(R) methodology to support PAS 55 accreditation. Publicly Available Specification 55 (PAS 55-1:2003 PAS 55-2:2008) provides a benchmark for optimal management of physical assets.

PAS 55 is the standard by which regulators are auditing asset management practices and processes. The standard has been adopted by industry regulators in the UK as a requirement checklist of demonstrating good governance in asset management. All electricity and gas distributors in the UK must demonstrate PAS 55 compliance; railway, water and other sectors are following. ScottishPower Energy Wholesale chose Ivara's EXP Enterprise reliability and asset performance management solution for its comprehensive approach to asset management. Scottish Power is the second power generation company in the world to achieve certification against the revised 2008 standard.

"It is a major achievement to complete the second stage of verification allowing Energy Wholesale to become fully accredited to the PAS 55 standard. The EXP Enterprise Technology contributes to demonstrating compliance with the clauses of PAS 55" said Paul Parry, Business Transformation Manager, ScottishPower Energy Wholesale and lead for the PAS 55 accreditation initiative.

"We recognized that process safety and asset management play a key role in preventing significant failure of assets and reducing risk to our people" said Martin Sedgwick, Head of Asset Management at ScottishPower Energy Wholesale. "Utilizing Ivara EXP Enterprise for a real-time view of our operations, and leveraging the Ivara Work Smart methodology, we set and delivered a strategy for operations and maintenance excellence."

"We congratulate our customer, ScottishPower, on achieving this significant milestone and are proud to be working with a truly pioneering organization." said Paul Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of Ivara Corporation. "This certification reinforces Ivara as the leader in equipment reliability and asset performance solutions that bring maintenance and operations together to manage and care for their assets using a proven process."
