BitArmor Named in 2009 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection

Posted on: Thursday, 3 September 2009, 09:00 CDT

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- BitArmor, a leading provider of information-centric encryption software, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc., in the 2009 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection report. The report, which is compiled by Gartner analysts John Girard and Eric Ouellet, discusses mobile data protection products that secure data on movable devices, including laptop/notebook computers, PDAs, and smartphones. Vendors included in the report are evaluated on the completeness of their vision and their ability to execute that vision.

Large-scale deployments drove BitArmor's growth in 2008 with revenue growing by more than 300%.

"We believe that being positioned among industry leaders in the Magic Quadrant is a testament to BitArmor's unique approach to data protection: actually protecting the data itself, rather than protecting a particular device or network," said BitArmor CEO Patrick McGregor. "Our Smart Tag(TM) technology enforces data protection in a vitally different way, which translates to high efficiency and cost-effectiveness for our customers."

BitArmor's DataControl(TM) encryption software delivers information-centric data protection, which specifically protects data instead of the devices or networks that process it. Because DataControl's Smart Tag technology protects data wherever it goes, it provides broader protection than traditional device-centric "point" solutions. DataControl integrates full disk encryption for laptop computers with persistent file encryption for desktop computers, USB drives, file shares, and e-mail attachments. Organizations that need to secure sensitive or legally protected personal information choose BitArmor software because of its advanced combination of encryption and highly usable rights management functionality.

BitArmor announced the BitArmor No-Breach Guarantee(TM) program in January of this year, making it the only encryption vendor to guarantee its products against data breaches. The program offers a refund to any customer who experiences a data breach while their data is protected by BitArmor encryption software.
