Ucentric Joins Digital Home Working Group

MAYNARD, Mass., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Ucentric Systems, a leading provider of home media networking software and applications, today announced its membership in the Digital Home Working Group (DHWG). The DHWG is a non-profit organization dedicated to simplifying the sharing of digital content among networked consumer electronics, mobile devices and PCs. The group consists of computer, consumer electronics and mobile industry leaders such as: Fujitsu, Gateway, HP, Intel, IBM, Kenwood, Lenovo, Microsoft, NEC, Nokia, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, STMicroelectronics and Thomson.
The group was formed to ease the complexity of home networks for consumers and speed to market new products for vendors and providers by establishing an interoperability platform based on open standards. The organization will develop technical design specifications and guidelines that will be used developing products such as computers, televisions, stereos, cellular telephones and other devices that share content on wireless and wired home networks. The DHWG expects the first wave of products with these implementations to be available by June 2004.
