Recognition Ceremony Held as Part of Web Accessibility Day
BALTIMORE, Sept 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by the National Federation of the Blind:

On September 22, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will hold its first-ever Web Accessibility Day. Teaming up with the Maryland Technology Assistance Program, the NFB will host a day-long, in-depth panel on how to create accessible Web content that complies with federal and state regulations. One hundred and fifty of the top Webmasters from around the country will be in attendance.
As a key part of Web Accessibility Day, the NFB will honor Apple, GE, and Newegg.com for their outstanding leadership in accessibility for the blind.
Apple will be recognized for making its popular iPhone accessible to blind users. Mr. Eric Seymour, Manager of VoiceOver Engineering for Apple, will be on hand to accept the award. Both GE and Newegg.com will be recognized for their continued commitment to ensuring equal access to their Web sites for blind consumers. GE and Newegg.com were recently awarded with the NFB's Gold Level NFB-NVA Web certification. The certification ensures that Internet sites or applications are fully accessible to and usable by blind people employing screen access software.
The recognition ceremony will be held during the luncheon portion of the sessions at 12:10 p.m. Members of the press are invited to attend.
