Sophisticated Software for Life-Critical Communication

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, September 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ascom Wireless Solutions, the leading supplier of on-site wireless communications, today announced four new DURAsuite applications for alarm management and messaging; DURAManager, DURAschedule, DURAlink and DURApage.

DURAsuite is typically used in areas where quick and reliable communications are mandatory like hospitals, elderly care homes, industries and prisons, where communication in many situations is life-critical. The business concept is to deliver value added applications to these customers. The applications increase staff protection and operational efficiency by enhancing the levels of communication within the organisations.

DURAsuite is a range of applications built on Ascom Unite professional messaging middleware. DURAsuite runs on OJS, a highly reliable solid state server. The software applications are modular and can therefore run independently of one another or run simultaneously to suit the customers' business nature and needs.

DURAsuite now contains the following applications:

DURAmanager allows you to control the distribution of alarms, messages and tasks within the DURAsuite system to individual handsets and destinations as well as groups of handsets and devices.

DURAschedule allows pre-defined messages to be scheduled and automatically transmitted at regular intervals to any integrated handheld devices or systems. The reminder messages are often to prompt staff to carry out supervisory actions or maintenance style checks that need to be performed at specific times.

DURAlink allows the Ascom Messaging Solution to integrate with external devices or 3rd party systems via serial or IP communication protocols.

DURApage is a web-based messaging tool that allows PC users to send messages to any handset, pager, mobile phone or connected device using a standard web browser. DURApage displays message delivery status and a history of previous messages.

DURAevent is required for all kind of event handling when an event shall result in an action, e.g. when an incoming alarm from a handset shall result in notification of colleagues.

DURAalarm is a web based alarm management interface. When alarms are generated, DURAalarm will display information regarding the alarm including the location of the handset when triggered as well as location information if the handset passed any locator's. Helpful information such as graphical floor plan maps will give the exact location where the alarm was generated.

DURAtest is a simple application which allows users to test their handset with different types of alarms from a simple web browser.

DURAroute monitors guards through their workplace and can generate alarm when a guard is too late and/or too early at a location.

DURAdispatch is designed for automating the task allocation for staff within hospitals, hotels, etc. The system takes care of the distribution and escalation of tasks. Tasks are entered from any PC with a web browser. The system automatically selects the appropriate staff and sends him/her the new task. The system also records statistics of all tasks and response times to enable analysis of task allocation.
