FREDERICK, Md., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Center for Digital Government 2009 Best of New York Awards are announced during the annual "GTC East: The NY Digital Government Summit," an event that highlights cutting-edge technologies used as strategic tools. The award program recognizes top technology professionals, including individuals and teams, in New York state and local government organizations as well as educational institutions for their diligent work efforts, contributions, and distinction in the information technology area.
Although dozens of entries were submitted as hopeful candidates, the final winners were chosen based on criteria that included collaboration of organizations, novel applications of technology, and projects that best advance services to the public. The recipients of this year's awards were selected by the Center for Digital Government, a division of e.Republic.
Visual Analytics Inc. (VAI) has been recognized in the category: Project Demonstrating Best IT Collaboration Among Organizations for their teamwork with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services on the project: DCJS Crime Analysis Centers Champion Data Sharing.
The Visual Analytics VisuaLinks and DIG technologies were implemented in the fall of 2008 into three New York Crime Analyses Centers sponsored by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The collaboration of VAI and DCJS has provided field officers and analysts using the programs with the information sharing, pattern discovery, and analytical solutions to assist in their efforts to reduce criminal activity.
Bennett McPhatter, VAI Chief Operations Officer, said "Our goal has always been to build the best information sharing and analytical tools available anywhere. We are very pleased that our technologies have enabled DCJS to realize a successful, collaborative investigative environment. It's also rewarding to have our efforts recognized by the Center for Digital Government. We look forward to building on the success of this project through the deployment of our capabilities in additional counties and state-level agencies throughout New York."
