Cherry Hill, N.J.-based Commerce Bancorp plans to open its next batch of branches in the early fall, with new locations in Mineola, Farmingdale and Cedarhurst. Those three branches would give Commerce 22 branches.
Commerce has long said that it hopes to have up to 60 branch locations on Long Island.
It's going to take time, but we will get there, said Christopher C. Giamo, senior vice president and market manager for Long Island for Commerce Bank, admitting that grabbing area real estate is highly competitive.
