BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ — Audiopoint further enhanced its voice-driven integration with Google Calendar and Google 411 services with the latest release of VTS. Version 1.6, available for immediate use by all registered users today, now provides remote access to email, Google Calendar, 411, popular web data services and interactive reminders and notifications using any telephone and simple voice commands.

“All of the new features in this release of VTS come from requests made by current users and customers,” says Brian Lichorowic, CEO of Audiopoint. “We’ve found that for some groups of customers, VTS is far more than a remote access service. For the blind and visually impaired, it’s a way to gain equal footing with the hundreds of millions of other people online. For our elderly users it’s a way to feel connected and cared for. And, for our executives and business professionals, it’s mobile access without squinting at a tiny screen and messing with a smart phone. I’m truly humbled when I see the ways this service is being received by people.”

VTS began as a service to retrieve email over the phone with additional options to retrieve real time news, weather, sports scores and horoscope information. Audiopoint also provides these services to Earthlink subscribers under the name Email By Phone. The service works using any telephone and uses a series of voice commands to retrieve information and to interact with the system. VTS is a now a standard service to many visually impaired associations and individuals.

In addition to these services, VTS also integrates with Audiopoint’s new NotifierRx service which helps sends medication reminders and aids in the management of chronic disease for outpatient care though the same voice-based interface. As a function of its interaction, VTS allows patients to “snooze” their reminders and requires positive confirmation of the notifications to help ensure medication compliance and better quality of life results.

VTS is available from Audiopoint as a monthly or annual subscription.

Audiopoint offers VTS for free to visually impaired United States veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
