Innovative Broadband Tutorial Underway In Atlanta Area School District Making Strides Towards Stability

ATLANTA, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — On Wednesday, October 7, 2009, Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Mignon L. Clyburn will join Alliance for Digital Equality(TM) (ADE) Chairman Julius H. Hollis for a site visit of ADE’s Learning Without Walls (LWOW) Program at North Clayton Middle School in suburban Atlanta, Georgia.

Last year Georgia’s Clayton County Public Schools were the first in 40 years to lose accreditation, and after a long public battle, their accreditation was restored in May of 2009. ADE’s Learning Without Walls(TM) is aimed at enhancing student performance, literacy and self-esteem, while enabling families to get the career development services they need to thrive and remain competitive professionally. Online tutoring, career help, homework help, GED prep, and resume writing are just some of the free services being offered to the students and parents of the Clayton County area through the LWOW Program.

The LWOW Program is a joint initiative organized by ADE, Qualcomm, AT&T, SMART Technologies and Saywire to provide wireless education technology tools to students at North Clayton Middle School.

The site tour will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will include the following participants: FCC Commissioner Mignon L. Clyburn; ADE Chairman Julius H. Hollis; Clayton County Commission Chairman Eldrin Bell, North Clayton Middle School Principal Clarence E. Jackson; and 7th Grade participants in the Learning Without Walls(TM) Program.
