Google Loses Another Board Member

Google announced on Monday that Arthur Levinson had removed himself from their board after a rise in the examination of his membership as a head of both Google and Apple Inc.
The retirement of Levinson, the former director of Genentech and a 5 year Google board member, follows the resigning of Google CEO Eric Schmidt two months ago.
Google and Apple, frequently viewed as partners battling the Microsoft juggernaut, are competing against each other more and more over several issues, such as operating systems and the Smartphone market.
Schmidt's departure was once seen as resolving some examination of the companies' association, but the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has persisted in reviewing the connection between the two companies.
Levinson resigned from Google regardless of Schmidt's pleading that he should remain.
"Art has been a key part of Google's success these past five years, offering unvarnished advice and vital counsel on every big issue and opportunity Google has faced," Schmidt said in a statement. "Though he leaves as a member of our Board, Art will always have a special place at Google."
