The Fantastic Winners

Baskin-Robbins received more than 500 enthusiastic submissions between July 29 and September 9. The five semifinalist videos were chosen based on choreography, originality/creativity, overall visual appeal and public votes. These videos then competed in a second round of public voting and judging for the chance to win one (1) Grand Prize of $10,000 and $1,000 in ice cream cake gift certificates, one (1) First Prize of $5,000 and $500 in ice cream cake gift certificates, and one (1) Second Prize of $1,000 and $100 in ice cream cake gift certificates. Below are the three winners in order of winnings:

  • GRAND PRIZE WINNER: Gotta Dance Studio (Granada Hills, CA): This video was submitted in tribute to Steve Gebelein, co-owner of Gotta Dance Studio, who passed away in February 2009. More than 60 students participated in an on-stage performance to raise money for Christy, Steve's wife and co-owner, along with their six children. The students will use the prize money to repair the studio's leaking roof. Alli Bivins, a teacher at Gotta Dance Studio, said the best reward was having all the kids get together to film the video and enjoy Baskin-Robbins ice cream cakes. • FIRST PRIZE WINNER: CRHS Cudettes (Miami, FL): This impressive dance team spent days choreographing their dance and making shirts to wow the public with their dance video. The team will use the money to go to a national dance competition. The Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream and Cake Dance Video Contest was the perfect opportunity to show off their moves and their love of Baskin-Robbins ice cream and cake. • SECOND PRIZE WINNER: Henry and Lady K (Los Angeles, CA): Kimba Rogers, also known as Lady K to the ice cream and cake fans, is the godmother to Henry, age seven. Always looking for spontaneous fun, Kimba and Henry were inspired by the Ice Cream and Cake song to create a dance video. "There is a wealth of interesting places to dance around Los Angeles," said Dakota Warren, a friend of Kimba and proud videographer of the finalist video.
