Verizon Foundation to Award $160,000 in Grants to 13 Massachusetts Domestic Violence Prevention Agencies on Oct. 23

HOLYOKE, Mass., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Thirteen Massachusetts nonprofit agencies that have been working to end domestic violence and help victims of abuse will receive a total of $160,000 in grants from the Verizon Foundation at an annual awards ceremony Friday (Oct. 23). The ceremony will be hosted by Holyoke Mayor Michael Sullivan; Verizon Region President Donna Cupelo; and Karen Cavanaugh, executive director of Womanshelter/Campaneros of Holyoke, one of the grant recipients.

BACKGROUND: Each year, the Verizon Foundation awards grants to a number of agencies working to curb domestic violence in New England and help victims of domestic violence. In the past three years, Verizon has awarded nearly $500,000 in such grants.
