SRI International Appoints New Executives to Government Business Development Group

MENLO PARK, Calif., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- SRI International, an independent, nonprofit research and development organization, announced today that Jerry Harrison and Srikanta (Sri) Kumar have joined SRI's Government Business Development group based in SRI's Washington, D.C. office. Jerry Harrison will serve as Vice President and General Manager, Government Business Development, focusing on the strategic expansion of SRI's relationships with defense and civilian government agencies, including the government service organizations, and with other government officials.
Harrison brings to SRI a broad range of leadership experience from the government and private sector. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Athlone Global Security, an investment company focused on homeland security technologies. Prior to Athlone, Harrison was vice president of business development and sales for C4 Systems at General Dynamics Corporation. His executive experience also includes Motorola, Inc., where he was vice president of business development and government relations.
Earlier in his career, Harrison was Chief of Legislative Liaison to the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff, representing Army programs to the U.S. Congress. While on active duty in the Army, Harrison commanded the Army Laboratory Command. He received his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an M.S. in aerospace engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Sri Kumar, Ph.D., will serve within SRI's Government Business group as Executive Director of Strategic Programs, where he will advance SRI's multidisciplinary programs such as surveillance and sensor technologies, synthetic and systems biology, and cyber security to provide comprehensive solutions to the government.
Most recently, Kumar was a director at BAE Systems, Inc., where he led and grew research and intellectual property efforts in networks and information processing. Kumar was a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) from 1999 to 2005, and was a senior technical advisor at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Kumar has also held faculty positions at Northwestern University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received his B.S. from Bangalore University, an M.E. from the Indian Institute of Science, and a Ph.D. from Yale University.
