Yahoo and Microsoft have postponed the deadline of the partnership of their Internet search engine and advertising deal, Yahoo announced on Wednesday.

In a document sent to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Yahoo! wrote the two companies are continuing their talks past the original ending date to attain a complete contract.

Yahoo and Microsoft had initially intended to finish their contract by October 27, but Yahoo wrote that "given the complex nature of the transaction, there remain some details to be finalized."

"The parties are working diligently on finalizing the agreements, have made good progress to date, and have agreed to execute the agreements as expeditiously as possible," Yahoo added.

The 10-year partnership revealed in July creates a combined Yahoo-Microsoft offensive against Internet giant Google, the prevailing leader in the battle of the search engines.

Yahoo is utilizing Microsoft’s new Bing search engine on its main site and is offering their restricted global sales force for site advertisers.

The partnership between the two companies, subject for assessment by US anti-trust regulators, will conclude in 2010.
