Nokia Recalls About 14 Million Chargers

Nokia has launched a massive recall of millions of cell phone chargers that it says could be potentially hazardous to customers.
The world’s largest cell phone maker announced a recall of about 14 million chargers worldwide, due to a risk of electrical shock posed by the chargers.
Nokia said it would replace all of the potentially faulty chargers for free and it added in a statement that it was "not aware of any incidents or injuries related to these chargers," according to AFP.
The models include the AC-3E, AC-3U, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009; and the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009.
Nokia said it discovered the issue during a routine quality control process. Certain chargers appear to have plastic covers that could come loose and expose wires that could shock cell phone users if touched.
The potentially defective chargers were manufactured by Chinese company BYD. They were distributed mostly in North America and Europe.
BYD is expected to cover the cost of replacing the chargers, according to BBC News.
Nokia said that customers can check to see if their charger has been recalled by visiting http://chargerexchange.nokia.com/
