SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 2003--
Company Launch Delivers Wide-Scale, IP Communication and
Collaboration Tools Optimized for Standard Computers and Networks
Wave Three Software Inc., a leading provider of real-time communication systems, today confirmed its presence in the IP communication software market with details of its business strategy and its Session(TM) software suite: Session(TM) Communication Software and Session(TM) Conference Server Software.
Traditional solutions for video and data collaboration have required special purpose hardware, special purpose networks and extensive support. As a result, they have been principally relegated to conference room deployments for special occasions and meetings. Similarly, software approaches to group conferencing have had limited success as they either "force fit" legacy technology into a software model, or append communication as an add-on to an operating system -- the result being reduced quality and flexibility.
Wave Three Software was formed in April 2002 with financial backing from Waller Sutton 2000 L.P. venture capital fund. The company's mission is to engineer cost effective and easy to use IP communication software that is easily deployable across large-scale user communities. In the last 15 months, Wave Three has delivered a standards-based, scalable and flexible software suite combining the best in group audio, video and collaborative applications. Wave Three is now deploying complete, software-only IP communication solutions to customers in its initial target markets of medicine, research and education.
"Session Communication Software and Session Conference Server Software enable our customers to realize the efficiency, productivity and cost savings of a widely deployed desktop communications solution," said Bob Randall, president and CEO of Wave Three Software. "Extending specialized skills to remote sites, participating in group sessions from any location, and experiencing the richness of eye-to-eye communication instantly and easily are just a few of the benefits that Session customers enjoy today."
Wave Three's Session Communication Software is the first solution to bring high quality communication and collaboration to the desktop in an easy to use and install format. Session Communication Software integrates Voice over IP, Video over IP, application sharing and media sharing into a single tool for standard desktop and laptop computers. It is designed from the ground up, using Internet standards, to deliver quality communications in a software-only solution.
Wave Three's Session Conference Server Software (see release dated July 21, 2003: Wave Three Software Launches Session(TM) Conference Server Software for Real-time Communication,) delivers group conferencing on a server-based platform. The software is a flexible, SIP-based solution that supports group conferencing for voice, video, data, or all three simultaneously.
Through direct sales channels, Wave Three is leveraging its success with research and education customers to deliver similar solutions to associated enterprise customers in biotech, insurance and financial services. These organizations are a natural extension for Wave Three as they contain easily defined user groups with existing communication and collaboration requirements to the research community.
