Anchor Bay Video Reference Series(TM) (VRS(TM)) Processing Selected for 1080p Upscaling and HDMI 1.3 in Two New Sherwood Audio/Video Receivers
CAMPBELL, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ — Anchor Bay, a leading supplier of video-processing semiconductors (ASICs) and systems, announced today that Sherwood Electronics has selected Anchor Bay’s flagship video processing chip for upscaling functions in two new audio/video receivers. The ABT2010 chip, which features the latest proprietary Video Reference Series(TM) (VRS(TM)) technologies, including Precision Video Scaling(TM), is used in the Sherwood Newcastle R-774 and Sherwood RD-8504, the first Sherwood products to use Anchor Bay video processing. Both A/V receivers are available now, at an SRP of $849.95 for the R-774 and an SRP of $479.95 for the RD-8504.

ABT2010 Video Processing Chip
The ABT2010 video processing chip features Anchor Bay’s Video Reference Series(TM) (VRS(TM)) 10-bit Precision Video Scaling(TM) and Precision Deinterlacing(TM), as well as Anchor Bay’s patented Progressive Re-Processing (PReP(TM)), a breakthrough technology that improves poor picture quality caused by other deinterlacers. The chip also provides Mosquito Noise Reduction, Detail and Edge Enhancement, Progressive Cadence Detection, AutoCUE-C(TM), Precision AV LipSync(TM), and supports HDMI 1.3 with Deep Color(TM) and xvYCC colorimetry capabilities, and allows all formats to be passed-through for maximum system design flexibility.
Sherwood Newcastle R-774 A/V Receiver
Geared for the custom installation market, Sherwood’s latest Newcastle high-performance audio/video product, the R-774, provides RF remote control, RS-232, IR and 12-volt trigger technologies required by the CI community and enthusiasts with the latest connectivity options and the most advanced audio and video processing technology. The ABT2010 video processing chip delivers flawless video, converting any video signal to HDMI, with scaling up to 1080p resolution. Lossless Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD decoding feeds 7.1 channels of 192 kHz/24 bit D to A converters for superb audio performance. Seven totally discrete amplifiers deliver 100 watts RMS each at less than 0.2% THD.
Its three HDMI 1.3 inputs have repeater circuitry, allowing the A/V receiver to receive HDMI audio from the source component. For discrete multichannel sources, a 7.1 channel direct input is provided. With an optional Sherwood BT-R7 Bluetooth receiver, the R-774 can receive streaming audio from any Bluetooth source device. Setup and room tuning are easily accomplished through Sherwood’s automated setup and SNAP(TM) room equalization system.
Sherwood RD-8504 A/V Receiver
Combining superior audio and video performance with an array of features, the RD-8504 provides Dolby and DTS lossless Blu-ray audio, converts any video to 1080p through its HDMI output, provides three HDMI 1.3 inputs with repeater, and delivers 100 watts RMS for each of its seven channels at less than 0.2% THD, through totally discrete amplifiers.
Using the ABT2010 video processing chip, the RD-8504 converts all video signals to HDMI, at any display resolution up to 1080p. Superior audio is produced by 192 KHz/24 bit D to A converters for all channels, and direct 7.1 channel inputs accommodate multichannel analog signals. Streaming input is possible when used with the optional Sherwood Bluetooth receiver, which docks on the front panel. System setup is simple and automatic, using a provided microphone and Sherwood’s SNAP room equalization system.
