Datatrend Technologies Partners With High-End Virtualization Provider ScaleMP in the IBM Industry Solution Reseller Program

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Datatrend Technologies, an IBM Premier Business Partner and solution integrator, today announced a partnership with ScaleMP to deliver fully integrated virtual SMP solutions based on vSMP Foundation. Datatrend, the 2008 IBM Innovation Leadership Award winner, expertly integrates IBM's industry-leading BladeCenter or iDataPlex server platforms with ScaleMP's revolutionary vSMP Foundation virtualization software to create a true, out-of-the-box, high performance computing experience with unparalleled ease of use and economics.

This solution aggregates multiple x86 server blades into a single virtual high-end system for the High-Peformance Computing (HPC) market providing customers with an alternative to traditional expensive symmetrical multiprocessor (SMP) systems. Based on the robust IBM BladeCenter or iDataPlex platforms, it scales up to 112 cores with 1.3TB of RAM and 8.4TB of fast internal storage, running a single Linux Operating system. In addition, the Datatrend solution includes vSMP Foundation Productivity Pack that provides Operating System tuning and other essential HPC utilities.
