UK Girls Becoming Addicted To Facebook

Forget the drugs, girls are now "permanently connected" to the popular website Facebook, according to BBC News.
Rather than skipping class to go get high, girls are able to get their fix quicker via their mobile devices.
Jill Berry, president of the Girl's Schools Association, says, "This issue now tops the list of parents' worries by some way."
One of the biggest issues according to some parents is the Honesty Box application, which lets users write anonymously on each other’s walls. Also of concern to the parents is that their daughters may be friending strangers who appear to be nice.
"They [parents] worry about the addictive nature of networking sites and the fact that their daughters seem to be permanently connected," Mrs. Berry told BBC.
These problems had overtaken their concerns about the girls' face-to-face contact in school, she said.
"Our schools now need routinely to advise parents about internet safety, in addition to working to educate the girls and to encourage them to be responsible in their relationships on and off line," she added.
Facebook has become a communication tool which means using the site is comparable to sending text messages to friends non-stop.
Whether or not girls are actually technically addicted to Facebook is unknown, however given that they’re constantly visiting the site wherever they are is a pretty good sign of some sort of problem.
While both activities are not the most productive, the girls could be getting into a lot more trouble besides just posting on each other’s wall.
Facebook had a range of safety tips to ensure users remained safe online.
These include, users being careful to only accept friend requests from people they know and to report any messages or profiles that look suspicious.
