AT&T Enhances Mobile Coverage in Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a continuing effort to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and services, AT&T* today announced the activation of two new cell sites in Gaithersburg that will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses near the major intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Quince Orchard Road, as well as along Midcounty Highway between Montgomery Village Avenue and Route 124.

A new site on Orchard Ridge Drive boosts wireless network coverage north of Kentlands Square, a popular shopping center for residents. The second site, located on Emory Grove Road, enhances wireless network capacity around residential neighborhoods east of Lakeforest Mall.

These investments are one part of AT&T's ongoing effort to drive innovation and extend its mobile network in Gaithersburg, which includes two other cell sites AT&T activated earlier this year in Montgomery County - one along Rockledge Drive and the other near Clopper Road.

In addition, these two sites build upon AT&T's overall technology investment in Maryland, which includes 28 new cell sites this year to-date. From 2006 to 2008, AT&T's total capital investment in its wireless and wireline networks in the state was nearly $500 million.

AT&T has also invested in the Gaithersburg community by serving customers at two retail locations. One store can be found at 538 N. Frederick Avenue near Lakeforest Mall. The other is located at 15918 Shady Grove Road, directly off of I-270's Exit 8.
