Elluminate Delivers Real-Time Interaction to Australia's Deakin University

Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and Web collaboration solutions for the real-time organization, announced today that Deakin University, one of Australia's largest universities, is implementing Elluminate Live! Academic Edition. Elluminate was introduced to Deakin University through its Australian partner and reseller, Yellow Edge. The university standardized on WebCT Vista for its online teaching and learning environment, Deakin Studies Online (DSO), and will use Elluminate Live! to provide synchronous content to existing courses and further facilitate cross-campus teaching. In addition, Elluminate Live! will be used to provide support for off-campus students and professional development training for teachers and staff, as well as for scheduled and ad hoc meetings, eliminating a significant amount of travel.

Deakin University has a unique policy that requires every undergraduate student to take at least one course entirely online. In addition, every course at Deakin has an online presence, taught in either a blended onsite/online environment or wholly online without any face-to-face contact. As a result, the university recognized a significant need for dynamic interaction in its online environment and chose Elluminate Live! after an extensive selection process that included the solicitation of user community references. The product met the university's core criteria, including simplicity of installation and use, multi-platform support, comprehensive functionality, and robust reliability. Elluminate Live! is currently in a pilot implementation of 20 teaching projects with faculty in multiple disciplines on various campuses.
