Sunbelt Software Appoints New VP of Marketing

December 7, 2009

CLEARWATER, Fla., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ — Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced the appointment of Caroline Birch as its new vice president of marketing. Birch brings more than 18 years of executive and senior management experience with a diversified portfolio in business-to-business, business-to-consumer and OEM marketing roles that spans direct, retail, channel and two-tier distribution.

“Caroline is a fantastic addition to our already highly effective marketing organization,” said Stu Sjouwerman, co-founder of Sunbelt Software. “Even in this challenging economic climate we’re adding new customers and partners worldwide at a pace faster than ever before. It’s an opportune time to leverage Caroline’s extensive experience to accelerate our market growth across consumer, enterprise, and OEM markets.”

As part of this new marketing appointment, Stu Sjouwerman will shift from his role as vice president of marketing to a more focused role as publisher and editor of Sunbelt Media Services, a division of Sunbelt Software that produces four major online newsletters, including WServerNews, WXPnews, Win7News, and SunbeltSecurityNews. These newsletters are tailored to deliver up-to-date technology information to both consumers and enterprises in a timely manner. Sjouwerman will remain an active member of Sunbelt’s executive team with continued oversight of the company’s direction.

As vice president of marketing, Birch will oversee all aspects of Sunbelt’s worldwide marketing efforts including strategic planning, brand development, product marketing, promotions, and marketing communications. She will be responsible for developing go-to-market strategies to drive market share and revenue growth for Sunbelt’s entire product line including VIPRE®, the company’s flagship next-generation anti-malware offering.

Birch joins Sunbelt Software from Sage, a $1 billion global leader in SMB software and services, where she managed new customer acquisition and existing customer marketing efforts for the Sage Abra division. Prior to this she held vice president of marketing positions at Eisenworld (acquired by Microsoft), Tranxition Corporation, and Quarterdeck. Earlier in her career she held key marketing positions at Tech Data Corporation, the world’s second-largest distributor of software and hardware.

“Sunbelt Software has an excellent reputation in the industry and is perfectly poised for explosive growth worldwide in both the enterprise and consumer markets,” said Birch. “Based on the superior technology and corporate leadership team already in place, I expect that in the coming months Sunbelt and its flagship VIPRE solution will make tremendous gains in becoming the leading anti-malware brand.”
