Dell Computer Corp. widened its lead over Hewlett-Packard Co. in worldwide shipments of personal computers in the second quarter, and the market expanded a more-than-expected 7.6 percent, market researcher IDC said.
Dell Computer had 17.8 percent market share after shipping 5.93 million units, compared with 14.9 percent in the same quarter a year earlier, Framingham, Massachusetts-based IDC said. Hewlett-Packard had 16.2 percent of global shipments, or 5.38 million unite
