New SDK Enables Software Developers, Gateway Appliance Vendors to Quickly Add World-Class Spyware Blocking to Internet Server Products; Linux/Unix Product Also Supports Windows
Aluria Software LLC, a veteran provider of anti-spyware and security solutions and services, today announced the release of its new Aluria Gateway Anti-Spyware SDK, the first SDK ever for Linux/Unix gateway appliance vendors and/or software developers who wish to quickly add value to their products via world-class spyware blocking technology.
The Aluria Gateway Anti-Spyware SDK leverages Aluria's renowned and proven spyware scanning/blocking engine to monitor file traffic, web sites, and IP addresses for spyware signatures at the gateway level. The kit is designed specifically for Internet servers and other network gateways, ensuring fast and efficient deployment of spyware blocking within gateway appliances and products.
"Internet Service Providers such as EarthLink, as well as many enterprises maintaining a network infrastructure, are demanding maximum spyware deterrence for their networks and are turning to Aluria for protection. Establishing a reliable gateway blocking mechanism is a key part of that solution," said Rick Carlson, president of Aluria Software. "Aluria Gateway Anti-Spyware SDK can reduce time-to-market for such a capability from months to days with tested technology from one of the industry's original and trusted anti-spyware providers."
Aluria's spyware blocking technology allows gateway application developers to watch incoming traffic and pass suspect files to the Aluria SDK, which scans the files and notifies the gateway to block or accept. Furthermore, the SDK offers features that enable the gateway to prohibit access (incoming or outgoing) to malicious IP addresses and web sites.
In December 2004, Aluria announced its Aluria Client & Server Anti-Spyware SDK, giving software vendors in the IT security field an established anti-spyware upgrade path for enterprise desktops, workstations and servers. The Aluria Client & Server Anti-Spyware SDK uses Aluria's advanced scan and removal engine as well as its Active Defense Shield technology to detect, remove, and/or block harmful software before it is installed; when combined with the company's gateway spyware protection, developers and their customers benefit from a multi-tiered block-and-clean strategy that ensures total anti-spyware efficiency.
The Aluria Gateway Anti-Spyware SDK is designed for Linux, UNIX and Windows operating systems. Linux flavors supported include FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and NetBSD versions of UNIX as well as Red Hat 9.0, Red Hat Enterprise, Debian-based distributions, and Novell SuSE. The product is compatible with all Intel x86 architectures.
Aluria desktop anti-spyware technology has been proven on millions of desktops worldwide and is known for its accuracy and reliability, as well as scanning speeds up to 75% faster than competing applications.
