Cox Communications Adds Free Programming to Its On DEMAND Lineup

Posted on: Thursday, 21 July 2005, 12:00 CDT

Cox Digital Cable customers in select markets now have access to more than 700 hours of On DEMAND content with the addition of free programming from some of the country's most popular cable networks. This new content is offered to Cox Digital Cable customers free of additional charge.

On DEMAND, previously marketed as Entertainment on Demand, brings Cox Digital Cable customers access to FreeZone where they can view offerings from: A&E, Classic Kids, Concert TV, Discovery, Discovery Kids, DIY Network, E! On Demand, Fine Living, Food Network, HGTV, History Channel and NFL On Demand. All Cox Digital Cable customers automatically have access to the FreeZone through the On DEMAND platform.

"FreeZone now delivers a vast array of compelling programming to Cox Digital Cable customers, offered on-demand so that they can watch at times that are convenient for them," said David Pugliese, vice president of product marketing and management. "We know that our customers increasingly want to watch television on their own schedule, with features and controls that allow them to stop, pause and rewind. We are thrilled to offer some of the country's best cable programming in this format, greatly enhancing the value of Cox Digital Cable for our customers."

In addition to content from popular cable networks, FreeZone also offers entertaining and engaging commercial content such as movie trailers, music videos and product information from clients of Cox Media, the advertising sales arm of Cox Communications.

"The addition of Free On DEMAND content is beneficial to our advertising clients because it will increase traffic in FreeZone and the likelihood customers will find valuable information from our advertisers alongside favorites from cable networks," added Pugliese.

Cox Digital Cable customers also have access to On Demand subscription services from Anime, here! and WWE 24/7(R). Plus, HBO, Cinemax and Starz subscribers receive HBO on Demand, Cinemax on Demand and Starz on Demand at no additional charge.

On DEMAND from Cox Digital Cable is available to customers in San Diego and Orange County, Calif., Las Vegas, Nev., New Orleans, La., Oklahoma City, Okla., Omaha, Neb.; Hampton Roads, Va.; Connecticut; and Rhode Island.
