(ARW) Cypress MicroSystems and Arrow Electronics to Present Net Seminar: ''Designing Motor Controls and Battery Chargers with the PSoC Mixed-Signal Array''

Posted on: Friday, 31 October 2003, 06:00 CST

LYNNWOOD, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2003--

Presentation to be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 1:00 PM

PT/9:00 PM GMT

Cypress MicroSystems Inc., a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY), and Arrow Electronics (NYSE: ARW) today announced a one-hour web seminar entitled "Designing Motor Controls and Battery Chargers with the PSoC(TM) Mixed-Signal Array."

Cypress MicroSystem's programmable system-on-chip (PSoC) has become the industry's most successful new mixed-signal, MCU-based device. Now PSoC is "reloaded" with advanced, instrumentation-quality analog features. In this seminar, our industry experts will show you how to take advantage of these new features using real design examples. You'll learn how to build a single-chip battery charger for Li-Ion, Li-Pol, NiCAD, SLA, and NiMH, complete with a free software interface to rapidly prototype your design. We'll also demonstrate the latest in motor control designs using PSoC. PSoC will change the way you think about embedded design.

John McDonald, vice president of marketing at Cypress Microsystems, and Dave van Ess, staff applications engineer at Cypress Microsystems, will introduce PSoC and explain its use in a number of practical applications.

About the PSoC Family

The PSoC device family integrates programmable blocks of analog and digital logic, a fast 8-bit CPU and MAC, 8 kBytes to 16 kBytes of flash memory and 256 Bytes of SRAM. PSoC ICs provide designers with a flexible architecture that can be configured for a broad range of embedded applications and dynamically reconfigured to extend the capabilities and value of their product. The PSoC platform typically reduces customer development time by 33 percent and reduces bill of materials costs by an average of $5 by significantly reducing the number of chips required for systems typically utilizing a traditional microcontroller and discrete digital and analog components.
