BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2003--

VXA-2 Drives Integrated with Toshiba's High Performance Magnia(R)

Servers and New Mexico Software's Digital Filing Cabinet Software

To Provide Complete Document Management Solutions

Exabyte Corporation (OTCBB: EXBT), a performance and value leader in tape backup systems, today announced that VXA-2 tape drives and automation solutions have been selected by Toshiba's Computer Systems Group and New Mexico Software (OTCBB: NMXS) to provide data backup, retrieval and archiving activities for the mission-critical documents managed by the Toshiba Magnia Z310 server preloaded with New Mexico Software's "Digital Filing Cabinet" (DFC) document management solution.

"New Mexico Software selected Exabyte's VXA-2 tape storage technology because it offers unbeatable reliability, capacity and automation at a price that makes it a very reliable yet affordable backup solution for our customers," said Dick Govatski, CEO of New Mexico Software. "When customers buy the DFC, they are getting a truly superior document management solution -- the VXA storage technology is an ideal complement to this solution to give customers the peace of mind of unmatched data integrity, ease of management and low cost."

The Toshiba-New Mexico Software DFC serves as a central repository for important documents and images that would otherwise be stored in disparate locations and in a variety of formats. The DFC is a complete, plug-and-play, Web-enabled document imaging management system that includes a web server, database, image server, administration tools, multi-function network printer connectivity, (CE) control environment for permissions, batch editor, and a customization kit for companies to tailor the server to their needs. The solution is designed to meet the stringent document management needs of the medical industry, the financial services industry, professional services firms and other environments where effective tracking and management of documents is a mission-critical activity.

"This is a significant endorsement from Toshiba and New Mexico Software because data restore reliability is absolutely critical for the data that is managed by the Magnia servers and Digital Filing Cabinet software," said Tom Ward, CEO of Exabyte Corporation. "Customers who use the DFC are managing documents that are indispensable, irreplaceable corporate assets, and documents of that importance deserve a backup solution that has the best reliability in the industry. VXA offers unmatched data integrity, capacity, speed and pricing that have made it the backup technology of choice for a growing number of OEMs, resellers and end users."

VXA-2 dramatically increases the capacity and performance available to tape users who seek an alternative to the aging DDS technology at similar pricing for drives and media. The VXA-2 drive can record up to 160 GB (compressed)(a) to a single cartridge at a data transfer rate of up to 12 MB/sec (compressed)(a) - which is 4x the capacity and 2x the speed of DDS-4 and 2x the capacity and 2x the speed of DDS-5. Three interface options will be available including Ultra2 Wide SCSI, IDE/ATAPI, and FireWire, providing support for a wide range of computing platforms and operating systems. VXA-2 delivers full read and write compatibility with VXA-1, protecting the investment of users who have already chosen VXA technology.
