Wavien, Inc. Introduces 16-inch DPR Lamp Platform Producing Improved Screen Brightness for 3D Cinema Applications

March 16, 2010

VALENCIA, Calif., March 16 /PRNewswire/ — Wavien, Inc. today announces the introduction of a large-scale 16″ Dual Paraboloid Reflector (DPR) lamp platform designed for use with multi-kilowatt xenon lamps for cinema projectors. This larger DPR platform is capable of providing the projection industry with higher lumen output and improved screen brightness for the rapidly growing 3D cinema market. Additionally, testing has shown that Wavien’s DPR technology significantly extends the useable life of arc lamps, resulting in substantial cost savings due to reduced lamp replacement. “Wavien’s DPR technology is able to improve the performance of burners with arc gaps ranging from 3mm to 10mm,” stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the technology. “Wavien’s DPR can also be scaled to meet the size requirements of wide range of projectors,” Dr. Li also said. He added, “In the 16″ configuration, the DPR lamp platform is well matched for the popular 1.2″ DLP(TM) cinema imaging chip from Texas Instruments.” Last summer, Wavien and Texas Instruments announced a co-marketing effort using the original DPR platform and DLP imaging chips for projectors aimed at the educational market. The DPR Cinema reflector platform was demonstrated at Show West in Las Vegas March 15th -17th.
