Apple Refreshes Its MacBook Line
Apple Inc. announced Tuesday that it has updated its line of high-end laptops with faster processors, better graphics and longer battery life.
Apple said it has added refreshed Intel processers and new graphics chips from Nvidia to its 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro notebooks.
The company said that the 13-inch model, which starts at $1,199, now has up to 10 hours of battery life.
Its new 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models, which start at $1,79 and $2,299, are now 50 percent faster and hold eight to nine hours of battery life.
According to industry tracker IDC, Apple is the No. 5 maker of personal computers in the United States.
Apple's computers shipments surged 33 percent to 3.36 million units in the first quarter of 2009.
The Cupertino, California-based company is expected to announce quarterly results next week.
