Future Effects Not Considered

Has anyone considered the effects of global warming, the rise in sea level and what were 1-in-100-year events on a coastal route?
Talking about passing lanes on the Transmission Gully route, have we not learned our lesson about passing lanes and the road toll?
If the Government allowed more transport-related taxes and levies to be spent on providing adequate roading, that would probably have a greater effect on reducing the road toll than constantly blaming the motorist for all accidents.
There has been little more than road maintenance done on State Highway 1 north of Wellington over the past 25 years. Can Auckland's greater population continue to put it at the top of the road funding queue forever?
