38 Japan Makers Developing Software for Xbox 360

Tokyo, July 25 (Jiji Press)--A total of 38 Japanese companies are developing 45 game software titles especially for Microsoft Corp.'s next-generation video game console, Xbox 360, the companies said Monday.
The companies include major game software makers Namco Ltd. , Capcom Co. and Konami Corp. . The three companies, among others, outlined the software under development to in a business meeting held by Microsoft, which plans to launch the new console late this year.
Peter Moore, visiting corporate vice president of Microsoft, indicated the company's plan to boost marketing of the console in Japan, noting that if the product is able to win acceptance in the country, it is likely to succeed worldwide.
An official of Microsoft's Japanese unit said that at least 50 Japanese game makers plan to provide 100 or more software titles for the Xbox 360.END
