Leading Japanese television station moves to new headquarters and interconnects to data center with ADVA's FSP 2000
MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) --ADVA Optical Networking (FSE:ADV), a leading global provider of optical networking solutions, today announced that Asahi National Broadcasting Company Limited (TV Asahi Ltd., Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Mr. Sadamichi Hirose) has implemented a new data center connectivity solution with ADVA's Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 2000 system. One of Japan's largest television and broadcasting companies, TV Asahi recently completed and moved into a new headquarters facility in Roppongi Hills. ADVA partner NEC Corporation (Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Mr. Akinobu Kanasugi) installed the FSP 2000 to interconnect TV Asahi's new headquarters with its data center, thereby securing real-time transmission of the company's mission-critical data to a remote location.
ADVA's FSP 2000 employs Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology to enable up to 512 applications at speeds between 8Mbit/s and 10Gbit/s to be transported over one single fiber pair up to distances of 200 kilometers. TV Asahi is currently transporting primarily Gigabit Ethernet traffic over 20 kilometers in a point-to-point application. ADVA's data center connectivity solution enables enterprises like TV Asahi to mirror and recover data more quickly and cost-effectively than previously possible.
"The FSP 2000 offers a strong value proposition to TV Asahi, providing a low entry cost point to back up and secure the company's data and simultaneously offering a clear upgrade path to add new applications as the company grows," stated Jurgen Hansjosten, Chief Sales Officer at ADVA Optical Networking. "We were pleased to cooperate with long-standing partner NEC on this project and intend to continue driving the market opportunity for data services in Japan."
