The winning students of two graduation projects, supervised by King Abdullah II School for Electrical Engineering at PSUT, were honored on July 13 by Motorola in Jordan, which provided the five winning students with its innovative handset, the V300.
The winning students are: Ahmad Mohammad Khalil, Alaa' Ali Mahameed and Magdi Mousa Abu Njeleh for their project entitled "Electric Billing System using SMS" project, supervised by Dr. Omar Bani Ahmad, and Tareq Zreekat and Shehadeh Masarwah for their project "Mobile Virtual Controls and Monitors using SMS", supervised by Professor Abdullah Al Zou'bi.
PSUT President, Professor Hisham Ghassib, commented on Motorola's honoring of the students by saying, "We are pleased to see the private sector take its place in encouraging university students and supporting their efforts to enhance their business talents and creativeness in the labor market."
Professor Ghassib added, "It is very encouraging to see a Fortune 100 company like Motorola support Princess Sumaya University for Technology's graduation projects."
Motorola honored the winning students by giving them each a Motorola handset V300 in a special ceremony that was also attended by Professor Ahmad Hiasat, PSUT's Dean of Engineering, Dr. Omar Bani Ahmad, Motorola's contact officer at PSUT, and Mr. Motaz Hourani, Motorola's Country Manager in Jordan.
"Motorola is delighted to honor the winning students of the PSUT graduation projects with one of our latest innovative handsets. It is aspiring students such as these who can help further the growth of Jordan's technology industry and contribute to the development of the country as a whole," said Motaz Hourani, Motorola country manager in Jordan.
In 2004, the Motorola Foundation donated a $25,000 grant to Princess Sumaya University for Technology to cover seven full one- year tuition scholarships to be administered under the University's student scholarship program, which provides educational assistance to distinguished and underprivileged students enrolled at PSUT.
